In addition to manually creating clients and sites, you can upload them using a CSV file. This feature is especially helpful if you already have a large database of clients and sites. By uploading, you can save time when creating or updating your client list in Planado.
Open the Addresses page.
To upload a file, click the upload button near the Add site and Add client buttons.
Here you can see the description of all the columns.
Download the sample file and automatically format your CSV file containing client information.

We recommend using the external ID for your clients. This allows you to update client information by simply reuploading your CSV file. It’s especially useful when you need to update multiple clients or sites simultaneously.
A CSV file can be edited in a spreadsheet editor software like MS Excel, OpenOffice Calc, or Google Sheets.
Clients upload file
Ensure all column names remain identical to those in the example file. While some columns can be left blank, they must still be included in the file; otherwise, the upload will fail. Use UTF-8 for the file encoding.
Upload file uses semicolons as separators, make sure that you use them in your file.
After you have prepared the file, open the Addresses page and click the upload button.
If you use the first row of the spreadsheet as a header, checkbox Skip header row.
After choosing the file, click on the Upload button. Time to upload depends on file size, usually less than a couple of minutes.
After a successful upload, you will see results. In our example case, 12 new clients were created and 15 were updated.
Uploaded clients will be shown on the Addresses → Clients page.
If the file has wrong encoding or any errors, you will see this message, instead of upload results.
Compare your file with a sample file, make sure you have correct encoding, and try to upload spreadsheet again.
The sites upload process works the same as the client one, just use the other sample file.
